DPS - Feedback
In order to gain feedback from my target audience, I handed an image out of my double page spread and asked people from within my target audience to give me some written feedback on a post-it note. I have written some of the feedback below.

DPS - Artist Interview
Here is the interview that I've written for my double page spread of my indie music magazine. I produced this after doing some research in to other music magazine's double page spread interviews and also watching artist interviews on YouTube to give me an idea of what type of questions I could include.
When you
started posting YouTube videos did you ever think they would get you to where
you are today?
‘Honestly, I always wanted to be where I am today, I have so
many supporters that I’m so grateful to have but I didn’t ever think YouTube
would be the cause for all of this. It’s crazy to think that I probably
wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t post those videos, I would like to think
that I would have made it to where I am today without the help of YouTube but
realistically I probably wouldn’t have’ [laughs]
Do you feel
that all of this public attention has changed you as a person?
‘I’ve always said that I wouldn’t change as a person if I
ever became somewhat famous and I’d like to think that I haven’t but change is
inevitable. I find myself doing things differently to how I used to just
because I feel like when you’re in the public eye you’re constantly being
watched but this doesn’t mean that I’ve completely changed as a person. My
personality will never change, it’s part of who I am and I’d choose that over
being ‘famous’ any day’
How do you
cope with negativity that is aimed towards you?
'I try to completely block out the negativity. To respond to
such immaturity would be a complete waste of my time. Those people spreading
the negativity are yet to realise that a negative mind will never give them a
positive life.'
In terms of
your career where do you hope to be in five years time?
'In five years time I want to be continuing with the music
career that I have now. I want to have albums that have won me awards and I
want to be satisfied with my achievements no matter how big or small they are.
I also want to be content and happy with making music in the same way that I am
now and I really hope that music continues to be a passion of mine rather than
a job.'
Are there any artists that you'd really like to work with in the future?
'I'd love to work with those who have inspired me to be the artist that I am today. For me somebody that I really look up to and idolise is Lana Del Rey and so to actually have the opportunity to work with her wouod be amazing. I'd also love to work with Hozier, I've met him a few times and I think he's great at what he does and as a person in general really.'
What was your first reaction when Matador Records offered you a recording contract?
'My first reaction was oh my God. [laughs] I really couldn't believe that such a famous record label were interested in signing me. It came as such a shock since I'd never been offered an opportunity like this before. I'm forever grateful for the change that Matador records has given me'

Double Page Spread research.
Below is two double page spread's that I have deconstructed from Q and NME magazine. I chose to deconstruct these two double page spreads as they both come from magazines that match my genre and I decided that they would help with the construction of my double page spread. Deconstructing these double page spreads has helped me to recognise the common convention of magazine double page spreads.

DPS - Image Decision
I chose to use this as my final double page spread image as I liked that the model was smiling because It shows that she isn’t too serious. I also like that she is staring directly at the camera as it engages the reader. As well as her facial expression I like her stance as I feel it shows a bit of personality and makes the image more appealing than one where the model is standing with their arms awkwardly hanging at their sides.

DPS - Standfirst
These are some music magazine stand firsts that I found whilst conducting my research. I used some of the text as inspiration for my own stand first.
This is my stand first. It is fairly long as I found it difficult to summarise everything that I wanted to say in to shorter sentences. In my stand first I mentioned artist's that my artist was inspired by which I had already previously mentioned in my artist profile.

contents page test shots and final image decisions
This is a video showing some of my contents page test shots and also my chosen contents page pictures.
This is the main image that I've chosen to use on my contents page. This is a long shot that shows both of the models and what they're wearing. I decided to go for a black and white clothing colour scheme for this image as I thought it would flow with my cover page well. I chose to use the guitar in the image as I felt it made the models look more like musical artists. I chose to use a white backdrop as the background for my image as I felt it directed attention to the models rather than the background,
as well as this image I also used a second image of my models. I chose to use this image as I liked how the background looked. I also chose to use this image as I saw another magazine (nme magazine) use an image with a sky and grass as the background and I thought it looked really good.

Front cover test shots and final front cover image decisions
This is a video showing the test shots of my model that I've taken for my magazine cover
This is the final image that I chose to use for my magazine cover. I chose to use this image as I liked the expression on the models face. I chose to take the picture in front of a white backdrop as I felt that it made the model stand out. I asked the model to wear full black clothes as I saw that this was a common clothing colour in indie magazine and it allowed for me to experiment with different coloured fonts. I asked the model to wear red/burgandy lipstick so that I could match it to a font colour that I had in mind at the time.
The shot is a medium long shot that clearly shows the model staring at the camera as I felt this would stand out to my target audience and make the cover seem slightly more personal as it would appear that the model is looking at them.

Shot list
This is my shot-list for my magazine front cover, contents page, and double page spread. I decided to draw four possible images for each page as although I wont use four on every page it'll give me an idea of what images would look good as well as what wouldn't.
